Heavenly Father, Thank You for this day. For the good we cherished, the parts we failed to find good in and for all Your help through it. But Lord Thank You most of all for Your Son Jesus, our Lord and Savior. We have shown You time and again that we are wicked beggars that offer You minuscule crumbs in comparison to Your glory and mercy and grace. I wonder if it brings a smile to Your mighty lips when we call this Friday “Good” Friday. We have repeatedly been wrong and ungrateful for Your lavish blessings. But when we praise You for the day our only hope died, for once in all of history we got it right. We know because He died a death He did not deserve, our Savior lives! We know because the rock of our faith is Peter’s confession that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, Our Savior lives! We know we are so loved that we need not fear death or the devil because You have conquered them through His death and glorious resurrection. We know we are hand-picked by You to be a part of a royal priesthood and we praise You to see that righteous potential in poor miserable sinners like us. For as many times as we questioned You and did not gratefully eat the manna You generously provide us, we got Good Friday right. Thank You Father for our salvation and so much more;for Your sacrifice that brings You a glorious victory and carries us back to You in our next life in Heaven forever and ever.

In Christ Alone – By Stuart Townsend & Keith Getty

In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt of life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
‘til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.
