We wanted to provide you with updates to help keep everyone informed.
COVID Safety Protocols
On March 10, Gov. Greg Abbott rescinded the mask mandate in Texas. The governance board met earlier in the week and it was determined that, at this time, Mt. Olive will continue to follow all protocols established to help slow the spread of the virus, including wearing face coverings while in the church building. The governance board will continue to assess this monthly. We want to thank you for everything our church family has done to help keep our congregation members, staff and volunteers safe. We know many Texans are getting vaccinated which will prove to be a sheer sign of being able to return to some level of normalcy very soon.

Winter Storm Preschool Destruction and Rebuild
We have made substantial progress with the water abatement and reconstruction process from the extensive damage caused by the winter storm. The preschool was able to relocate all of their classes to various areas of the church including the youth room, fellowship hall and choir room. We would like to commend our preschool and church staff and volunteers from preschool families and church, all of whom have graciously given of their time, talent or service and have been remarkably flexible during a time in which everyone had to work together to make the relocation such a success. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Mike Albe and Mel Ardlt for coordinating and overseeing the abatement and reconstruction process. Their time and efforts were a critical component in ensuring work gets completed correctly and timely.
As discussed with the Congregation at the Annual Voters’ Meeting, the call process is lengthy and one that will require prayer, patience and strategic planning on the part of our congregation to ensure we make the best decision for Mt. Olive in the long-term. Work on the call process actively began in October with the District and continues. On Sunday, April 11, we will host a congregational meeting to discuss the timeline for the call process, as presented to the governance board, and answer any questions you may have about the process. This will be an in-person and broadcasted meeting. Additional details forthcoming.
Blessings to you,
Kristy Almager – Congregational President, the Governance Board, the Elders, and Pastor Jason
