2019 Mission Trip
This past July, an intrepid group of our middle school and high school students headed to Houston for our annual mission trip. We spent the week being challenged and stepping out of our comfort zones as we followed Jesus’ command to love our neighbors.
We had the opportunity to serve through an organization called City | Service | Mission. They work with nonprofits in some of the largest cities in the United States. Banding together with others, our group experienced God working in some really cool ways.
We had the opportunity connect with people experiencing homelessness. One way we did this was walking the streets of downtown, talking to them as we learned more about what life is like for them. As we were doing this, we bought snacks to hand out and bless as many people as we could.
Another way we served Houston was through a group working with kids in government housing. We spent time playing games and just hanging out with these kids. We met one teenager who was practically unstoppable at Connect4.
We also chopped vegetables, sorted food, and assembled meals for almost 10,000 people during our time at the Houston Food Bank, which is the largest food bank in the United States!
We had an awesome week in Houston and saw God working in amazing ways.
Friendships were formed and strengthened. We are so thankful for the opportunity to live out faith, and we cannot wait until next year! Maybe you can plan on joining us next year!! It’s a different project every year!!
