Howdy!

I was raised in Houston where I grew up playing sports (baseball & soccer)! I graduated from Concordia University Texas with a double major (Business & Religious Education). College was a great experience where I continued to grow into my faith while playing baseball, making friends, and going on adventures in Austin!

Upon graduation, I moved back to the Houston-area to serve at CrossPoint in Katy as the Sports Guy. It is here that I truly developed a love for meeting people where they are at and loving them in ways that pointed them to Jesus. I am very excited to get to cultivate friendships with the families of Mt. Olive as well as our Dripping Springs/Southwest Austin community!

I’m newly married to Andrea who has spent the last 15 years in Katy and is currently attending Texas State University to pursue a Math-Teaching degree. We are a young family with a 7-1/2-year-old, Connor. He is currently in the 1st grade and is such a fun-loving kid who is really into all things Pokémon.

I’m a huge fan of the Houston Astros, an avid home-barista who will never turn down a good cup of coffee, a lover of good BBQ, and I’m all about Tacos morning, noon, & night. I also enjoy traveling and doing fun things with my family. I have the goal of completing in an Ironman Race before I’m 30.

Karen Harris

Director of Music

“God works in mysterious and surprising ways—and that is so true with me. Leading the body of Christ in worship was not something I had planned, but God sure did, and His calling was unmistakable. What an honor and a privilege it is to connect people to God as they experience Him through music and worship!”

Karen has been leading contemporary worship at Mt. Olive since 2011, and has been a member of the Mt. Olive Praise Team since 2006. Her love of music started with violin lessons as a child, which evolved into a passion for singing and playing guitar. As an adult, she ventured into other disciplines, which resulted in a rather varied background in education, work experience, and volunteer activities. She holds an MS in Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and a BS in Geology from Stephen F. Austin University.

She loves expressing her faith through songwriting, and has compiled a collection of her original contemporary Christian songs on her CD “Moved By Faith”. She also enjoys DIY projects, travel, photography and family time. She and her husband have two sons and four trouble-making goats.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

My husband, Bill, and I have two grown daughters. Our oldest daughter, Emily, lives in San Antonio with her husband and just recently had our first grandbaby in August. Our youngest daughter, Macey, attends Marian University and is in the nursing program and is transferring to Texas Lutheran Univ (TLU) in Sequin.

Our Preschool program offers a nurturing and safe environment, while focusing on building confidence and independence, learning social skills, preparing for elementary learning, and instilling a love for learning and God through a Lutheran education.

Office Manager

I’m a native Texan, life-long Lutheran, and TCU grad! I grew up in San Marcos and spent a number of years in the DFW area before moving to Austin 11 years ago with my husband. We are now busy parents of two elementary-aged daughters and we try to experience all the city has to offer. I enjoy family time, date nights with my husband, traveling, watching Survivor, and country dancing!

I’m a lover of Disney, chocolate and BBQ, and when I have the chance, I like to experience outdoor adventures (I’m a 3 time sky-diver), tubing Texas rivers, and dinners with my girlfriends. Worshipping and being an active member/volunteer in a church community has always been an important part of my life. It brings me peace and joy.

My personal motto is, “Pray more, worry less.” God’s got this, y’all! I’m happy and thankful to be a part of the Mt. Olive community!

Volunteer Deaconess

I am an RN with a healthcare business degree, and have worked in many different areas as we moved 18+ times around the world with my husband’s military career. It has been exciting to see how God has had me serving in all the different places we lived… from hospice development, teaching nursing, office management, volunteer coordination, to developing programs for caregivers in need of respite.

I am a graduate of Valparaiso University through the Lutheran Deaconess Association. As a deaconess we take the gifts, talents and skills we have and use all these tools to go out and serve others in need— both within the formal church body and outside of it.

I invite you to come visit me and we can explore together how and where God is leading you to serve!
