Folks, music therapy is a powerful thing. Over the past three weeks, I’ve featured some wonderful love songs on the blog for you to listen to and help encourage you in your sacred marriages. I hope they reminded you that although your marriage is broken (just like everyone else’s marriage) because your spouse is broken (just like everyone else’s spouse) and you are broken (just like me!) you have great hope in Jesus. Jesus laid down His life for you and me, because He knew if we wanted to end up in heaven we couldn’t walk this road without Him. The truth is, the walk without Him, is Hell – both literally and figuratively speaking. In Christ Alone (another great song!) we can grow and have it affect eternity. Here are the last two songs:

Love of My Life – Jim Brickman

I am amazed
When I look at you
I see you smiling back at me
It’s like all my dreams come true
I am afraid if I lost you girl
I’d fall through the cracks and lose my track
in this crazy lonely world
Sometimes it’s so hard to believe
When the nights can be so long
And faith gave me the strength
And kept me going on
Chorus: You are the love of my life
And I’m so glad you found me
You are the love of my life
Baby put your arms around me
I guess this is how it feels
When you finally find something real
My angel in the night
You are my love
The love of my life
Now here you are
With midnight closing in
You take my hand as our shadows dance
With moonlight on your skin
I look in your eyes
I’m lost inside your kiss
I think if I’d never met you
About all the things I’d missed
Sometimes it’s so hard to believe
When a love can be so strong
And faith gave me the strength
And kept me going on
You are the love of my life
And I’m so glad you found me
You are the love of my life
Baby put your arms around me
I guess this is how it feels
When you finally find something real
My angel in the night
You are my love the love of my life
You are the love of my life
And I’m so glad you found me
You are the love of my life
Baby put your arms around me
I guess this is how it feels
When you finally find something real
My angel in the night
You are my love
My angel in the night
You are my love the love of my life

The Rest of Mine – Trace Adkins

There’s no guarantee that we’ll see tomorrow
Heaven only knows how long we have
So there’s no way I’ll ever for one second let you wonder
Just how long my love for you will last
‘Til my last breath, ’til I’m called on high
‘Til the angels come and I see the light
To the very end, ’til I give in
To the last beat of my heart
No I can’t swear that I’ll be here for the rest of your life
But I swear I’ll love you for the rest of mine
‘Til my last breath, ’til I’m called on high
‘Til the angels come and I see the light
To the very end, ’til I give into the last beat of my heart
No I can’t swear that I’ll be here for the rest of your life
But I swear I’ll love you for the rest of mine
No I can’t swear that I’ll be here for the rest of your life
But I swear I’ll love you for the rest of mine

This weekend’s Art of Marriage seminar will focus on the following six sessions. Even if you can’t join us in Fredericksburg, please pray on this and I promise God will answer you in His perfect time:

Session 1: Love Happens (Purpose of Marriage)
• God designed marriage and has a great plan in mind.
• The primary purpose of marriage is to reflect God’s glory to a watching world.
• It is important to receive your mate as God’s perfect gift for you.
Session 2: Love Fades (Drift to Isolation)
• Couples naturally drift toward isolation.
• Our differences and weaknesses push us apart.
• Sin has affected every marriage.
• The gospel brings healing and reconciliation.
• Couples must learn to walk by the power of the Holy Spirit in marriage.
Session 3: Love Dances (Roles)
• God designed different responsibilities for men and women in marriage.
• Though their responsibilities are different, men and women are still equal in value.
• God calls men to sacrificially love and lead their wives.
• God calls women to respect and support their husbands.
Session 4: Love Interrupted (Communication)
• Conflict is common to all marriages.
• The goal is not to be conflict-free but to learn to handle conflict correctly when it occurs.
• Healthy conflict resolution occurs when couples are willing to seek and grant forgiveness.
Session 5: Love Sizzles (Romance and Sex)
• God created sex and has a wonderful design in mind.
• A satisfying sex life is the result of a satisfying marriage relationship.
• The ultimate purpose of sex is to bring pleasure and glory to God.
Session 6: Love Always (Legacy)
• To leave a godly legacy, we must think about the impact of our lives on future generations.
• Our hope for leaving a lasting legacy is through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
• Leaving a godly legacy requires putting a stake in the ground.
