One of Mt. Olive’s most important programs is our efforts to share God’s love with those around us through service, example, and charity. We have both local and global programs, helping our central Texas neighbors and reaching out to share Jesus with our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world.

Mission Guatemala

Since 2013, Mt. Olive has partnered with the small mountain village of Capucalito, Guatemala, committing to a minimum of five years of service—and continuing that commitment with joy and purpose today.

Each trip to Capucalito is an act of love that blesses not only our friends in Guatemala but also the mission team members who serve. Together with the people of Capucalito, we’ve seen God do incredible things:

What We’ve Accomplished Together

  • Planned, funded, and built a regional medical clinic now serving over a dozen mountain villages—this design is now the national standard for rural clinics in Guatemala.

  • Helped fund and construct the first special-needs classroom in rural Guatemala, and continued training for teachers and parents with support from Concordia University, Austin.

  • Provided wheelchairs to villagers with mobility challenges.

  • Sponsored scholarships so students can continue their education.

  • Established and equipped a computer lab for the middle school—an incredible rarity in rural Guatemala.

  • Delivered school and clinic supplies to preschools, elementary, and middle schools.

  • Operated vision and dental clinics, offering hundreds of free glasses and serving nearly 1,000 dental patients.

  • Distributed Spanish-language Bibles to every home in Capucalito and several nearby churches.

  • Hosted VBS-style programs for children filled with faith, songs, and joy.

  • Provided food relief to elderly residents during COVID-19.

  • Helped fund the local church’s new floor and pews.

  • Captured and gifted family portraits for more than 80 households.

Through it all, we’ve been given the chance of a lifetime—to share the love and Word of Jesus with our extended church family in Guatemala.
